Q. At what time hour hand and minute hand make right angle between 9 o’clock to 10 o’clock?

  1. 31.7 minutes past 9.
  2. 32.7 minutes past 9.
  3. 33.7 minutes past 9.
  4. 34.7 minutes past 9.

Solution:

The formula of the hour hand and minute hand = (30 H – 11 M/2)

The hands will make right hand so the angle must be 90⁰ and the hour is between  9 to 10 so we can put 9 as hourhand.

Therefore, 90 = 30 × 9 – 11 M/2

90 = 270 – 11 M/2

180 =  11 M/2

360 = 11 M

 M = 360 /11

= 32.7

Hence, the correct answer is 32.7 minutes past 9.

Q.Select the set of symbols which can be fitted correctly in the following equation:

9…4…2…6…3 = 36

  1. +, ×, ÷, –
  2. –, ×, ÷, +
  3. +, ÷, ×, –
  4. ×, –, +, ÷

Solution:

1) +, ×, ÷, – ⇒ 9 + 4 × 2 ÷ 6 – 3 = 9 + 1.33 – 3 = 7.33 ≠ 36

2) –, ×, ÷, + ⇒ 9 – 4 × 2 ÷ 6 + 3 = 9 – 1.33 + 3 = 10.67 ≠ 36

3) +, ÷, ×, – ⇒ 9 + 4 ÷ 2 × 6 – 3 = 9 + 12 – 3 = 18 ≠ 36

4) ×, –, +, ÷ ⇒ 9 × 4 – 2 + 6 ÷ 3 = 36 – 2 + 2 = 36

Hence, “×, –, +, ÷” are set of symbol which will fit in the equation.
